Project Snapshot

Unifying Two

National Archives

Designing a shared digital experience by aligning complex stakeholder interests and integrating

the Stasi-Unterlagen-Archiv into the new Bundesarchiv website.

Context

The German Bundesarchiv initiated the integration of the former Stasi Records Archive into a unified Bundesarchiv digital experience. Beyond the technical merger, the project required balancing political, historical and institutional interests. While creating a single information architecture, it was essential to preserve the visibility, identity and accessibility of the Stasi Records Archive. The challenge was to create a unified digital experience while preserving the historical identity and visibility of the Stasi Records Archive.
